The harvest season for the geographically indicated Cimin Grape, cultivated in approximately 200-year-old vineyards in Erzincan's Üzümlü district, has officially begun. This black, seeded table grape, one of the significant products of a viticulture tradition spanning centuries, is being carefully harvested by producers. Noteworthy for its unique aroma, tangy taste, and low sugar content, the Cimin Grape is offered for sale at 200 Turkish Liras per kilogram on market and supermarket shelves. Producer Muhammed Karakelle stated that they are engaged in intensive harvesting efforts in the vineyards, highlighting that the product differs from other varieties due to its low sugar content.
High Yield and Export Market
In viticulture activities carried out across approximately 10,000 decares in the district, an average annual yield of 6,000 tons of Cimin Grapes is obtained in normal seasons. Producer Muhammed Karakelle indicates that the total production varies between 5,000 and 10,000 tons, depending on climate and seasonal conditions. While the majority of the harvested yield is supplied to the domestic market, this special, geographically indicated product also receives significant foreign demand from European and Middle Eastern countries. Producers, who started the season with hope, aim for a fruitful harvest period.
