Production Costs Drive Egg Prices Up 61%

Egg producer prices, pressured by rising costs, have surged 61% in the last four weeks, reaching 4.50 TL in production hubs.
Cost Pressure Pushes Prices Up
Egg producer prices have entered an upward trend again in the egg market, which has seen volatile movements since the beginning of the year. Increases in feed, energy, labor, and transportation costs, triggered by regional geopolitical risks, have started to be reflected in product prices. Prices, which declined in February and March, reached 4.10 TL in May, then fell to the 2.80 TL band in June and July, have sharply turned upwards. In the last 4 weeks, starting from the second half of July, producer prices have increased by approximately 61%.
Price Increases Across Product Sizes in Production Centers
Price increases were recorded across all product groups in Afyonkarahisar and Kayseri, Turkey's leading egg production centers. In Afyon Başmakçı, double-yolk eggs rose to 4.50 TL from 2.80 TL on July 13, while in Kayseri, they reached 4.35 TL. In Başmakçı, with the latest adjustment, Eski Ana eggs reached 4.40 TL, Yeni Ana 4.30 TL, Yarka 4.10 TL, Piliç 3.30 TL, and Kılavuz size eggs reached 2.90 TL. Thus, an increase of 40 kuruş for large sizes and 10 kuruş for small sizes was reflected in the price lists.
