The 12th Sustainable Food Summit, organized in collaboration with the Turkish Food Industry Employers' Association (TÜGİS) and the Sustainability Academy, will address the future of agricultural production in Istanbul amidst climate pressures and supply risks.
Summit Scope and Date
The 12th Sustainable Food Summit, organized in collaboration with the Turkish Food Industry Employers' Association (TÜGİS) and the Sustainability Academy, will be held on December 24th in Istanbul. The event, hosted by Swissôtel The Bosphorus Istanbul, will bring together leading representatives from the agriculture and food sectors, academics, and experts in the field. The summit will delve into fundamental issues such as ensuring production continuity, increasing resource efficiency, and access to safe food.

Water, Soil, and Regenerative Agriculture
The deepening global climate crisis, the threat of drought, and increasing pressure on water resources directly threaten the future of food production. Among the main agenda items of the summit are the absolute protection of water and soil resources, the widespread adoption of regenerative agriculture practices, and circular production models. Experts emphasize the necessity of implementing innovative and applicable solutions across the sector to ensure on-field production security and sustainable management of agricultural resources.

Public Policies and Producer Support
TÜGİS Chairman Kaan Sidar stated that a strong bridge must be built between production, technology, and public policies to secure the future of the food sector. Sidar noted that food sustainability cannot be reduced solely to production volume and that solutions must be found for farmers' on-field problems while protecting water and soil. Reflecting scientific data in the field and supporting producers are vital for future generations' access to safe food.
COP31 and Supply Chain Goals
Kaan Sidar also mentioned that the impacts of COP31 decisions, for which Turkey will be the host, will be discussed, and the consequences of global climate policies for the agriculture and food markets will be examined. Semra Sevinç, a Board Member of the Sustainability Academy, stressed that the entire supply chain, from farmers to industrialists, must act together to achieve lasting transformation. Sevinç stated that the event will lay the groundwork for steps that will strengthen the continuity of agricultural production and the resilience of supply networks.
