Bor Şeker Acquires Adapazarı Sugar Factory for $50 Million

Factory Transfer and Quota Increase

A significant transfer transaction has occurred in the Turkish sugar sector, with Yıldız Holding's Adapazarı Sugar Factory changing hands. Bor Şeker, owned by the Dişli family, acquired 99.584% of the factory's shares for $50 million. As a result of this takeover, Bor Şeker's share in Turkey's total sugar production quota increased from 2.5% to 5%. The company, which has increased its capacity and market share in the sector, has decided to implement a fundamental operational change in its production basin.

Beet Transportation to Niğde and Uncertainty

For the 2026 campaign season, an planting protocol was established with producers in the Adapazarı Sugar Factory's hinterland based on a commitment of approximately 120,000 tons of beet. Polar Content and Cultivation Areas

The gradual shrinking of beet cultivation areas in the region and the significantly lower polar content of the harvested beets compared to other production areas accelerated the process. Low polar values necessitate the processing of much higher tonnage of beets to obtain the same amount of crystal sugar in the industry; this directly affects manufacturing costs and operational efficiency.
