Grape Harvest Begins in Küre Village, Söğüt

The traditional grape harvest event was held in Küre Village, Söğüt district of Bilecik; a significant portion of the province's 8,100 tons of table grape production is met by the region.

Bilecik Governor Faik Oktay Sözer attended the grape harvest event held in Küre Village, Söğüt district, and carried out the grape harvest alongside producers. Governor Sözer, who met with farmers in the vineyards and received information about agricultural activities, also accompanied the traditional molasses production process. Sharing childhood memories during molasses making, Bilecik Governor Faik Oktay Sözer stated:

Sözer drew attention to the traditional processing value of the product and wished for a fruitful season.

According to official data, approximately 8,100 tons of table grapes are grown on 10,107 decares of land across Bilecik. Söğüt district, holding the largest share in the province's viticulture capacity, ranks first with its 3,000 decares of vineyards and an annual table grape yield of 2,400 tons. The district, with its geographical structure and suitable climate conditions, single-handedly meets a significant portion of the city's total table grape supply.

The local variety, cultivated for centuries in Küre Village, gains a high sugar content and a distinct aroma thanks to the special microclimate of the Sakarya Valley. Bilecik Governor Faik Oktay Sözer, who inspected the quality of the harvested product on-site, described the variety's characteristics with the following words:
