Kale Pepper Harvest Expected to Reach 4,500 Tons

Harvest is underway for Kale pepper, a registered product of Denizli, with an expected yield of approximately 4,500 tons from 1,200 decares this season, boasting high yield and quality.
High Harvest Expectation for Kale Pepper
Denizli Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, Mustafa Nevzat Zayim, met with producers at the harvest event held in Demirciler Neighborhood of the Kale district. According to data from the Denizli Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, the yield in the district this season is very promising. Following his field inspections, Denizli Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Mustafa Nevzat Zayim made the following statements:
"We expect a harvest yield of around 4,500 tons this year from approximately 1,200 decares in our Kale district."
Stating that producers are satisfied with the current market price levels, Zayim continued his remarks by noting that the season is productive:
"The quality of our peppers is also high this year."
Local Registration and Promotion Initiative
Drawing attention to the unique structure of the product, which has geographical indication registration, Denizli Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Mustafa Nevzat Zayim explained the morphological characteristics of the vegetable:
"It has the ideal sought-after color. It has 3 veins. 2 veins will be sweet, 1 vein will be spicy, but a delicious spice."
Zayim emphasized that the Provincial Directorate will launch an official study to register the product as a local variety, stating their aim to expand its market share. He also indicated that they will accelerate promotion steps, pointing to the Adana Flavor Festival and the İzmir Interfresh Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Fair:
"We will soon be carrying out some promotional activities for this pepper at festivals held in our country and at agricultural fairs."
Denizli's Geographically Indicated Richness
It was stated at the harvest program that the support provided by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry was met with satisfaction by the producers, and thanks were given to the producers for their efforts. Officials from the Denizli Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry highlighted the province's agricultural and gastronomic potential, sharing that it has a total of 18 registered geographical indication products. It was noted that the vast majority of these registered products consist of agricultural goods. Among the prominent riches on the list are Çal karası grapes, Serinhisar roasted chickpeas, Tavas baklava, and yogurt with a burnt aroma, while it was announced that registration efforts in the region will continue to be expanded.
