· Dünya Gazetesi

The new season's harvest has commenced for the registered Cimin Grape, cultivated in centuries-old vineyards in Erzincan's Üzümlü district, with the product reaching consumers at 200 Turkish Lira per kilogram on market shelves.
Harvest Season Begins in Historic Vineyards
The harvest period has started for the geographically indicated Cimin Grape, cultivated using traditional methods in vineyards that are approximately two centuries old in Erzincan's Üzümlü district. This special product, belonging to the black-seeded table grape category, is carefully collected from the vineyards by producers and offered for sale. Noteworthy for its distinct tart taste and aroma, the Cimin Grape is finding buyers at 200 Turkish Lira per kilogram on market shelves. Producers in the region are continuously engaged in harvest activities in the centuries-old vineyards.
Yield and Market Demand are Increasing
In viticulture activities carried out across approximately 10,000 decares in Üzümlü, an average annual production of 6,000 tons is realized in normal periods. While a significant portion of the harvested products is dispatched to the domestic market, external demand from European and Middle Eastern countries is also being met. Muhammed Karakelle, one of the producers, stated that the annual yield varies between 5,000 and 10,000 tons depending on the conditions, reporting intense work in the vineyards.
Producers Highlight Low Sugar Content
The product's significantly lower sugar content compared to other varieties is among the most prominent features that make Cimin Grape stand out in the market. Mehmet Canbaba, a grape producer drawing attention to the region's agricultural richness, stated that the product is protected by geographical indication and added:
"It doesn't cause discomfort no matter how much you eat."
The harvested grapes continue to be delivered to cities within the country as well as to markets beyond the borders.
