Tetra Pak Exports 60% of its Packaging Production from Izmir

Tetra Pak, which produces over 10 billion packages annually at its Izmir facility, exports 60% of its Turkish production to global markets, having invested over 60 million euros in the country over the last decade.

Izmir Factory's Production and Export Strength

Tetra Pak has been continuously operating in Turkey since 1972 through its production facility located in Izmir. According to company data, a high production capacity exceeding 10 billion packages annually has been achieved. Eliseo Barcas, Tetra Pak's General Manager for Central Eurasia, announced that 40% of the current production is directly supplied to the domestic market, while the remaining 60% is exported abroad. Barcas also stated that the company has made investments exceeding 60 million euros in its Turkish operations over the last 10 years.

Value-Added Food and Beverage Portfolio

The facility provides comprehensive processing and packaging infrastructure for liquid and semi-liquid food producers. The solutions offered cover the processing of milk, 100% fruit juice, nectar, iced tea, and fermented beverages. In parallel with the increasing demand in the sector, technological support is also provided for high-value niche product groups such as organic milk, lactose-free milk, smoothies, and plant-based beverages. Evaluating the company's production vision, Tetra Pak Central Eurasia General Manager Eliseo Barcas made the following statement:

UHT and Aseptic Packaging Technology

Modern processing standards play a vital role in the safe preservation of milk and similar low-acid food products. Processing products above 135°C completely inactivates microorganisms. Aseptic packaging conditions, which come into play after this stage, enable food to maintain its freshness for a long time at room temperature without the need for a cold chain. These developed integrated process technologies directly contribute to the safe delivery of agricultural resources to the final consumer without waste.
