Harvest Begins for Registered Ayvaniye Apple in Sivas Gürün

The new season harvest for the registered Ayvaniye apple, unique to Sivas's Gürün district and known for its 6-month shelf life, has commenced.

The new season harvest for the registered Ayvaniye apple, unique to Sivas's Gürün district, has officially begun. This special fruit, which can only be grown within the borders of the Gürün district worldwide, stands out with its distinct aroma and scent. The apple variety, on which scientific studies have been conducted by academics from Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, has been documented in international literature. Local producers state that the apple, whose harvest has started, only grows in this geography and that attempts to cultivate it in other regions have been unsuccessful.

The Ayvaniye apple can maintain its freshness for approximately 6 months after harvest without spoilage, thanks to the thick and oily natural protective layer on its peel. The product, which remains firm even on the branch during winter months, shows high resistance to cold weather conditions. Producer Saadettin Gamsız, commenting on the unique properties of the product, made the following statement:
