Agriculture and Forestry Minister İbrahim Yumaklı announced that due to abundant rainfall, wheat and barley production is expected to increase by 44%, reaching a historic record of 34.5 million tons.
Agriculture and Forestry Minister İbrahim Yumaklı shared Turkey's current production data with the public at the International Association of Operative Millers (IAOM) Eurasia Conference held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. Minister İbrahim Yumaklı made the following statement:
These announced projections indicate one of the highest yield levels in recent years for the grain sector.
According to ministry data, significant losses were recorded in the grain harvest in the previous production season due to drought and frost events. Minister Yumaklı drew attention to the direct impact of climatic conditions on the agricultural sector, emphasizing how the difference in harvest between the two seasons demonstrates the decisive role of weather conditions. Officials stated that fluctuations in rainfall patterns directly affect production planning and aim to promote the widespread use of drought-resistant seed varieties and efficient irrigation methods against climate risks.
The Turkish Grain Board (TMO) carried out intensive work at hundreds of purchase points across the country to protect producers under market conditions. According to the data announced by Minister Yumaklı, TMO made the highest purchase record in its history this season by purchasing 12.3 million tons of grain nationwide. Including products carried over from previous periods, the total stock held by the office reached 17.5 million tons. TMO General Manager Ahmet Güldal also provided comprehensive information on market regulation efforts at the conference.
Minister Yumaklı stated that food supply security cannot be guaranteed solely by high harvest yields from the fields, emphasizing that there should be no disruptions in the supply chain from the field to the table. It was stated that modern storage infrastructure and licensed warehousing are being strengthened due to the seasonal risks posed by climate conditions. It was noted that Turkey is ready to share its experiences in storage capacity and stock management with brotherly countries in the region, and that strategic reserves are important against crisis periods.

Touching upon Turkey's global competitiveness in the agricultural industry, Minister Yumaklı recalled that the country has maintained its number one position in global flour exports uninterruptedly since 2005. He stated that Turkey holds the second position in pasta exports and noted that the high raw material supply supports the country's strength in export markets. Minister Yumaklı made the following assessment regarding bilateral trade targets:
